FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Every piece in our collection is carefully examined by our team of specialists. We evaluate hallmarks, maker's marks, metal content, craftsmanship, and period-appropriate construction techniques. Pieces are authenticated based on provenance, documentation where available, and expert assessment. We stand behind the authenticity of every item we sell.
Vintage and antique jewelry will show signs of age and wear that are consistent with their history — this is part of their character and charm. Any significant wear, repairs, or alterations will be noted in the listing. Minor imperfections and surface marks are considered normal and are not considered defects.
Most of what we sell has already survived 50 to 150 years of someone else's life, but estate jewelry isn't indestructible, and older settings need to be treated carefully. Pieces with fine filigree, enamel, and small stones are more delicate.
Many of our rings and bracelets can be resized by a skilled jeweler. However, antique and certain vintage pieces may have size limitations due to intricate settings, engravings, or fragile metalwork. Within 2 sizes, ring resizing is typically complementary. For bracelets and more complicated resizings, we are happy to give you a quote.
Antique means over 100 years old (currently, anything made before 1926 — Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, and earlier Art Deco). Vintage means roughly 25 to 100 years old (mid-Deco through Retro, Mid-Century, and into the 1990s). Estate simply means previously owned, regardless of age — a piece made last year and worn once is technically estate.
We want you to love your piece. Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery for items in their original condition. Custom alterations or resized pieces are not eligible for return. Please review our full return policy for details.
Vintage and antique jewelry requires gentle care. A soft toothbrush and gentle soap is the best way to clean most pieces. Avoid harsh soaps, perfumes, lotions, and chemicals (such as chlorine) when wearing fine jewelry.
